Traveling this summer? Hang up your towels and request that hospitality staff don't change the sheets - it saves water and reduc

The Bite:
Many hotels will provide cards that you can place on your bed to request NOT to have your sheets changed each day. If you cannot find a card, call the front desk to request that your towels and sheets not be changed for the length of your stay.
The Benefits:
  • Saves natural resources and lessens the dumping of bleach and detergents into the environment.
  • Saves energy costs and usage: each hotel that implements linen card programs saves (on average) 5% on their utility bill.
Personally Speaking:
We never wash our towels and sheets every day when we're home, so we both figure it doesn't make any sense for anyone to do it for us while we are traveling. And it seems that cleaning crew at hotels leave us extra mints on our pillows.
Wanna Try:

When checking into a hotel, be sure to ask the front desk for a linen card or inquire about their sheet and towel-changing policies.
