Want to look like you stepped out of the pages of Vogue without feeling green guilt?

The Bite:
High-end fashion designers are now coming out with fashion lines that take couture to another level of luxury: luxury with a conscience.
The Benefits:
  • Decrease the demand for animal fabrics: Stella McCartney insists that her contracts include a no-fur clause, lowering the demand for the 30 million animals that are captive-raised and killed for their skins every year.
  • Dress like a rock star while avoiding sweatshop labor. Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, have created edun (that is NUDE, spelled backwards), a high-end clothing line that makes a commitment to fair trade practices.
  • Wear funky fabrics: Linda Loudermilk designs her luxury eco line with natural woven fabrics such as bamboo, saswashi (a linen-like fabric made from Japanese leaves), soybeans, wood pulp, corn fibers, as well as recycled plastics and reclaimed beads and lace.
Personally Speaking:
Next year, we plan on completely dressing ourselves head to toe in eco couture... Aw come on, we can dream, can’t we???
Wanna Try:

  • edun - if you “Still Haven’t Found What You’re Looking For” on their site, you can get their products online at Blue Bee .
  • Loomstate - amazing organic jeans.
  • Linda Loudermilk - gorgeous fall line of tops, and join her Social Network at LuxuryEco to stay up on the latest eco-luxury trends and launches.

Cocktail Fact

Bono’s given name was Paul Hewson. A friend nicknamed him Bono, which means "good voice" in cockeyed Latin.

Bang For The Bite

Luxury eco has the same price tag as other high-fashion designs. So if you are going after that coveted pair of shoes, feel good that your cash is going toward supporting things like cruelty-free clothing, sustainable textiles and fair trade business.
