Think some spandex and a phone booth are all that Super-Biters need to get going?

The Bite:
No way - Super-Biters power up with exotic superfoods with like açai and kombucha. Whether you're looking for a midday pick-me-up or a hitch to heart health, check out a few of our drinkable faves.
The Benefits:
  • High in antioxidants, which hunt down cell-damaging free radicals. (But wait, there's more!) Some superfood antioxidants go even further - for example, a recent U of FL study found that acai's antioxidants destroyed cultured human leukemia cells.
  • Taste something new. Whether they're sweet, tangy or bitter, these drinks are a welcome departure from everyday orange juice.
  • Support brands committed to helping the earth through sustainable sourcing.
Personally Speaking:
Heather can't decide which is more powerful: Batman (the Christian Bale version), the X-Men, or Nutiva's Hempshakes.  Since she has easier access to the Nutiva products than the Batcave, we think she's going to have to vote that way.
Wanna Try:
  • Nutiva Berry Pomegranate HempShake - organic and fair trade hemp shake mix. Pomegranate juice beat out red wine's pro-blood flow power in a 2005 study ($14).
  • Sambazon - an amazing acai smoothie mix that's recommended by health nuts and extreme athletes as the perfect pick-me-up ($4).
  • GT's Organic Raw Kombucha - for some, it's an acquired taste, but a 2000 study found kombucha wards against E. coli and other microbes. First timers: only try a little, since some people have allergic reactions. And don't try it if your immune system's not in tip top shape. ($3).
  • Zola Acai - promotes sustainable harvesting of the acai fruit in the Amazon ($3).
  • Ideal Bite's Coconut, Flax and Hemp Oils Tip - oils that pack a healthy punch.
  • Goji berries and mangosteen are also great sources of antioxidants, but can cost more than acai, kombucha and pomegranate combined, so we're sticking with the less-pricey options for now.
