Is it a crime not to donate cash when it doesn't cost you a penny?

Maybe it should be. Must-have biz services like internet and banking are now available through vendors that donate all or part of their profits to good causes, which makes maintaining order and paying bills slightly more bearable.
The Benefits: 
  • Profits go to non-profits. Automatically donate with each internet bill or every time you use your company credit card, at no cost to your biz. In '06, customers of the telecom/credit card company Working Assets raised $5 mil for various causes.
  • Get the same great services offered by the big name vendors.
  • Value-added. Some providers offer additional benefits, such as letting you choose which groups you donate to or giving special-rate loans to eco-companies.
Personally Speaking: 
Ever the eco-avant-garde, San Francisco Biters have easy access to a New Resource Bank's branch, which offers both local and national services for businesses.
Wanna Try: 
Banks
  • New Resource Bank - the newest eco-bank on the block, with cool, futuristic eco-services. Solar financing? Check. Envelope-free check depositing? Double check.
  • Chittenden - eco-bank focused on Vermont, but with affiliate banks in other states, too.
  • ShoreBank Pacific - biz bank founded by the green non-profit Ecotrust.
  • Vancity - socially responsible Canadian credit union, for Biters up north.
  • Coop America - good overview on all eco-financial services.

  • EcoISP - 50% of profits go to your fave green non-profit.
  • Makana Technologies - a couple bucks off your monthly bill are donated to the org of your choosing.

  • CA Affinity - donation-linked calling cards, plus long-distance and toll-free services.
  • Working Assets - get comparable features to the big phone companies while helping civil rights, eco and peace orgs.
