Driving solo and late to a bikini bash? [April Fools']

04.01.2009

The Bite:
Dive into the car-pool lane alone for once - you deserve it for being eco. Cops won't mind as long as you're cute-ish (if you're fugly, there's always the "my water just broke" excuse). It'll get you through rush hour without going off the deep end.
The Benefits:
  • Lifeguarding the planet. Clinical studies show that using the diamond lane prevents up to 790 pounds of greenhouse gases per person each year. Yep - 790 greenhouses.
  • Getting to the party on time. Forget fashionably late; punctuality counts for a lot.
  • More attendees. It's Peer Pressure 101: The more people there are in the car-pool lane (especially if they're driving nice cars), the bigger car pooling's cachet becomes.
  • And hey, if you do get a ticket, you can always contest it in court.
Personally Speaking:
Those of us who occasionally drive alone in the HOV lane sometimes keep mannequins in our front passenger seats to avoid getting ticketed; no tickets so far (fingers crossed)…
Wanna Try:

Cocktail Fact

An LA undertaker who was prosecuted for driving his hearse in an HOV lane without passengers appealed, on the grounds that he was carrying a body in a coffin.

Bang For The Bite

Taking the car-pool lane alone won't save the world, but it will save you some stress. Plus, society sorta owes you for being green the rest of your time.

this is very confusing, eh? are you mandating that people not acknowledge the purpose of the lane? i can't tell if you're saying people should abuse the car-pool lane or not. for a page with only so many words in it, you've managed to send lots of mixed messages!...that said i wish we had these lanes in Chicago.
Huh? So, it's ok to put yourself above the law? Sorry, I don't agree, stressed out or not.
It sure seems like you could come up with a better tip than that. Here, re-use your plastic bags by washing and drying them each time you empty them. They have a cool little wooden stand you can use for drying or you can use anything tall like the pepper grinder.
I agree with Mike and Diane. That was a horrible TIP, unless you are trying to tell people to double up in your car to be able to drive in the HOV, then it is a green tip. You need better writers or better TIPpers.
Being green is no excuse to disregard the law. As an aside, the cop in the cop car is wasting his gas by pulling your fugly car over, you're making an extra trip and adding more carbon to the air by going to the courthouse when you contest that ticket and wasting another piece of paper by receiving the ticket in the first place, how green are you? This has got to be the stupidest tip I've ever heard of.
Shame on you, Ideal Bite! This is a terrible tip, and your attempts to justify its eco-friendliness are lame at best. Unless there's a real emergency, it is never OK to cheat while using the HOV lane. The use of mannequins is illegal and wastes an officer's time. Please go back to coming up with tips that are actually effective--and legal!
This one is almost as good as the Condom one from last year! Ha HA, you got me!!!!!! Happy April Fools everyone
...please realize that folks might not realize it is April Fool's and may take you seriously!
Haha you actually got me, and if your comments are any clue, a whole lot of other people as well! I guess everyone forgot what day it was...
I understand the whole April Fools thing and that this is probably that.... although presumably you are an adult and outgrew April Fools along with jr high school but my problem with this is not even that.... the whole cute women get better breaks and if you are ugly you are just screwed.... its wildly offensive and frankly I am no longer interested in receiving any of your tips on any day... you blew this one badly
