The Bite:
How can you stop doves from crying? Decorate with poster art that won't cut down the trees they live in, made from recycled or repurposed materials, such as magazines from 1999.
The Benefits:
  • Paper formerly known as...paper. With 95% of U.S. native forests already gone, recycled paper's the way to go.
  • Nothing compares 2 small landfills. Repurposing ads = less waste.
  • Skipping the raspberry beret. Stumped on what to get Mom for Mom's Day? Bingo. (And check Mama Bite next week for more great gift ideas.)
Personally Speaking:
Toshio's saving up for one of his roommate's eco-screenprinted wood pieces; meanwhile, Nikki McClure's Gravity poster looks great over his bed (and the price was right).
Wanna Try:
  • Nikki McClure - NW artist who specializes in striking, colorful message posters; veggie inks and 100% recycled paper ($4-$9).
  • BetterWall - when museums get rid of their street banners, these guys swoop in and mount 'em for your home ($295 and up).
  • Schimmel Art - turns advertisements (such as junk mail) into beautiful mosaics (prints, $30 and up).
  • Ork Posters - cool city maps with local neighborhoods graphically highlighted; soy-based inks and 100% recycled paper ($22).

Cocktail Fact

Prince performed his hit "1999" at a New Year's Eve Party in 1999, vowing to never, ever play it again. He added it back to his set list in 2007.

Bang For The Bite

If 10,000 Biters choose a recycled poster instead of a nonrecycled one, we'll avert the cutting down of about 14 trees.

Hey, Ya'll, I love the Prince-themed email. You don't just give advice, you also make me laugh. Thanks! Bill
i must say, i agree with bill! this completely made my day!!
Having worked in a place that made street banners, I would have to say that I would never put one in my house. Generally they're PVC-based with solvent inks. They will off-gas and usually smell of solvent for quite some time.
