Do you run the faucet while using the loo?

08.03.2007

The Bite:
We, um, hear ya. We're all a little shy when a bathroom break becomes a bathroom broadcast. But (butt?) muffling the sound by running water wastes lots of it, so try other ways of keeping your personal business confidential.
The Benefits:
  • Less wasteful sound shields. If you can't just practice self-acceptance, you've got some other options.
  • Saving water. Most faucets spout out more than 2 gallons per minute.
  • Saving pocket change at home. If you're extraordinarily shy and only go at home (we know you're out there), you could save up to $6 per year on water bills.
Personally Speaking:
Seven out of eight Bite team members prefer to turn on a fan or radio, while the other one could really care less whether or not he's assaulting anyone's eardrums.
Wanna Try:
Turn on the fan, turn on a radio, sing at the top your lungs, or send people on errands out of the house while you make a beeline for the can.

Cocktail Fact

The first toilet to appear on network TV was in an episode of Leave It to Beaver (1957), but CBS was so squeamish about showing one that only the toilet tank was in view.

Bang For The Bite

If 10,000 Biters stop running the faucet while using the loo, we'll save enough H2O each visit to flush 68,750 low-flow toilet bowls.
