Are chems gonna disrupt your eternal sleep?

The Bite:
Over your dead body they will, if you opt for an eco-burial. Toxic chems and non-eco coffins might be typical graveyard fare, but for Biters who wanna rest easier, eco-burial's the natural way to go.
The Benefits:
  • A less-toxic legacy. Eco-burials don't involve embalming, which uses chems like formaldehyde that are absorbed by the soil and stick around for years. (Plus, most eco-burials just plain take up less physical space.)
  • Death becomes you. Beautiful, biodegradable caskets and shrouds made from eco-friendly materials are a great alternative to those made with processed, varnished wood from threatened tree species, such as mahogany.
  • Bigger inheritances for the kids. Eco-burials can cost less than half the price of a standard burial, so your loved ones won't be buried in debt when you're gone.
Personally Speaking:
An acquaintance of Heather's asked her to be a witness to his will, in which he states that he wants his body - and these are his words - "to be laid in the forest to be scavenged by wild animals."

Cocktail Fact

According to animal cognition experts, elephants bury their dead under foliage and often stay with the bodies for days in mourning.

Bang For The Bite

If 10,000 Biters opt for an eco-burial, we'll avert enough toxic embalming fluid to fill 102 average-size caskets.

Well this seems a good alternative, but I have already given my body to science (with the remaining unused parts to be dumped! Thanks for an alternative.
I never even knew that these alternatives existed! Thanks for the info.
What is better for enrivoment, eco-burial and cremation?
Thanks so much for sending these options. Its nice to know that they are available.
My husband and I are both to be cremated and the ashes spread on the farm...good composting and fertilizers...Told our daughter, I want some in the woods to fertilize the Wild Violets.
I really like the Uono cocoons! I wish they were in the US as I would imagine shipping from Germany might be quite costly. I wish there were more of these options around the southern states.
Thank you for the nice write up on Green Burial Eternal Reefs is a member of the Green Burial Council and together we are the Surf and Turf of the natural burial movement. These memorial reefs serve to preserve, protect and enhance the marine environment and we encourage family members and friends to particiapte with the casting of the memorials. you can visit us at www.eternalreefs.com
When I went to the Green Festival here in DC a couple years ago, the thing that stuck with me the most was having learned about green burials. I had never really thought about it and this makes absolute sense. I think people who learn about eco-burial options but still opt for the usual burial route perhaps probably just can't come to grips with the idea of our bodies decomposing. (Tough to think about, admittedly!) I am absolutely going to make arrangements like this before I die. (Hopefully they won't need to go into effect for a long, long time, though!)
I too decided a long time ago to give my body to science or if my local med school doesn't want me, I would be happy to go to a body farm. I told my children to take some of the money they would use to bury me to have a big party where everyone has to share a humorous story about me--as I get older more & more things happen that cause people to laugh.
This is the coolest thing EVER! I'm donating all my parts (assuming I don't outlive them) but what a great alternative.
