The Bite:

Wanna help keep sea level from rising so fast? Paddle over to a volunteering website and do good this Wednesday, Earth Day (or any day, for that matter). You can pick and choose the nonprofit where you wanna volunteer based on your interests, and you don't even have to know how to swim.

The Benefits:

Drowning in options. Wanna work with animals, kids, or out in the forest? There are volunteer opps to match what you love.
Helping nix worldly hardships. Screw altruism - giving back makes you feel good.

Personally Speaking:

Ideal Bite's most memorable team volunteer day had us hauling extremely heavy rocks in Muir Woods…surrounded by beautiful redwoods and cute forest rangers.

Wanna Try:

Check with your HR manager - some companies let you volunteer on their clock.
Idealist and Volunteer Match - big databases of volunteer opportunities.
Taproot Foundation - org that hooks up skilled volunteers, from financial analysts to graphic designers, who wanna donate their talents pro bono.
EarthDay.gov - check out government-backed volunteer activities. Just a few places that can generally use your help: local animal shelters, beaches, food banks, homeless shelters, libraries, parks, senior citizens' centers.

Hi! I love your tips, but the new email format puts all of the interesting information below the first screen, and since I check the tips first thing in the morning when I'm trying to run off to work, I tend not to read the whole thing anymore, and I really don't have time look at it online. The green is pretty, but the use of space is now much less effective. Keep up the good work.

I volunteered for 1 year before I got my first real job at a life insurance company. I met so many amazing altruistic people while volunteering, they kept my enthusiasm up.
