Lasik surgery leave you with a spare pair of spectacles?

The Bite:
Donate them. It's as easy as dropping them off or mailing them to a service that'll redistribute them to peeps with peepers that can use your old prescription.
The Benefits:
  • Putting those granny frames to good use. Giving old glasses to people in need beats letting them collect dust in your closet or tossing 'em out.
  • 20/20 eco-vision. Reusing glasses means saving the energy and materials needed to create a new pair.
  • Tax-deductible cat eyes. The money you'll save on your tax return will help pay off that surgery bill.
Personally Speaking:
Toshio's prescription changes with the seasons, so based on his past donations, about eight different people have seen the world through his eye(glasse)s.
Wanna Try:
  • OneSight - drop off old prescription or nonprescription glasses at your local Lions Club, LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears, Target, or BJ's Optical store (they'll give you a receipt for taxes), or mail them in (and request a receipt).

Cocktail Fact

In an OH State University survey, 66% of elementary school kids said glasses made people look smarter, and 57% said they made them look more honest.

This is a great tip. So many people have eyeglasses languishing in dresser drawers. Since I wear glasses all the time, I keep one old pair in case of an emergency and the rest get donated. Sometimes I buy old glasses at tag sales. If I tell them what I am going to do with them, I sometimes get them for free. You mentioned several easy places to donate. You can just walk into any Lenscrafters.
I do a lot of thrift store shopping and most of them have a container to drop off your old glasses as well.
Thanks for putting the Lions club down as where to take old glasses! My husband & I are both very active in our local Lions Club, so I appreciate the message getting out! Love Ideal Bite! Patricia
Finding someone to take contact lenses is a lot harder, but I did find an organization to take mine when my prescription changed. It's madre.org. I emailed one of their Helping Hands staff and they said they could take them, and sent me a reciept for tax purposes. Figured I'd share. Cheers!
This is great! I new about turning them in to be redistributed, but I didn't know about the tax benefits. Thanks you
Deborah thanks so much for the link to Madre!! I have been looking high and low for some one to donate my contacts to. Thank you! Thank you!
The procedure is generally preferred to photorefractive keratectomy, PRK, (also called ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) because it requires less time for the patient's recovery, and the patient feels less pain overall. However, there are instances where a PRK/ASA procedure is medically justified as being a better alternative to LASIK. WoW Gold EU
The general term for changing a patient's optical measurements by means of an operation is Refractive Surgery. The introduction of lasers in refractive surgeries stemmed from Rangaswamy Srinivasan's work. real estate listings
The LASIK technique was successfully applied in other countries before it arrived to the United States. The first U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) trial of the Excimer laser was started in 1989. The first use of the laser was to change the surface shape of the cornea, known as PRK. Dr. Joseph Dello Russo was one of the ten original FDA researchers who tested and got approval for the Visx laser. hottubs
