Need a cold shower?

The Bite:
This is our version of “make love, not war”: showering with a buddy can save water and energy - think of the heat you’ll produce. (Not quite your speed? We’ve got less frisky ways to cut back on your water usage in the bathroom).
The Benefits:
  • Con your favorite handyman or handywoman into fixing that pesky leak. One drop per second can add up to 165 gallons a month - that's more than one person uses in two weeks.
  • Low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators can cut water usage in half, plus they’re inexpensive and easy to install. Might as well splurge on a nice one: in a household of 4, you’ll save up to $250 per year on your water bill.
  • Make it a competition. By timing your shower and keeping it under five minutes, you can save up to 1000 gallons a month.
  • Bring another mate into the shower…a bucket.
Personally Speaking:
Ever since Toshio - our intrepid Ideal Bite Editorial Manager - installed aerators on all his faucets, he can’t stop gushing (pun intended) over his water bill. Jen is currently screening shower partner applicants.
Wanna Try:
Average showerheads use about 2.5 gal per min. Try to find a showerhead that uses 1.5 gpm or less.

Cocktail Fact

During a recent drought, an Australian Environmental Minister encouraged lovers and “sympathetic friends” to shower together.

Bang For The Bite

It’s not calculus: if 10,000 Biters showered with a partner, the water they’d save during one sesh could provide the H2O for another 10,000 showers.
