BANG FOR THE BITE
apple

If 10,000 Denver Biters eat one locally produced apple instead of a nonlocal one, we'll save enough gas to fill the tanks of 50 cars.

COCKTAIL FACT

In 1893, Denver became the first major metro area to allow women to vote.

Does it get any better than a Bite just for Denverites?

The Bite

Try winning a breathtaking prize just for spreading the word about it. Let all your peeps in the Denver/Boulder area know that the Bite'll soon be rockin' the Rockies, and you could win gear from Patagonia. Totally different from the Daily Tips, our Denver Local Bite will serve up the latest and greatest green people, places, events, and products on the Mile High local scene each weekday. (And it's not all downhill from here - there are more local Bites on the way this fall.)

The Benefits

  • Having friends in high (eco-impact) places. We'll be your personal guide to all the green goings-on in Denver and beyond.
  • A huge (mountain) range of tips. Don't just buy local: connect, listen, wear, see, and taste local.
  • Elevating your resource savings. Example: It takes 17 times more oil to transport nonlocal food compared to stuff produced nearby.
  • You-won't-find-these-in-the-lowlands picks. Learn where to get Denver-grown and Denver-made goodies (not just what's at Whole Foods).

Personally Speaking

The Denver Biter Team is psyched about having one more excuse to "test" the comfort food at WaterCourse Foods.

Wanna Try?

  • Tell your friends about the Denver Bites, and you'll be entered to win $200 from Patagonia.com (plus, your friends will get a special offer from the Denver Patagonia store).
  • Check out a sample Denver Local Bite or just sign up already. Then look for your first Bite on Thu., Sep. 4.
  • If you hang your hat elsewhere, sign up for your Local Bite in Chicago, LA, NY, or SF, or one of the other eight places we're heading soon.

Beer That’s More Self-sufficient than Your Average

I know close to zero about Denver, so I'm gonna write about Fort Collins, which is about an hour outside Denver. It's home to the New Belgium Brewing Company, which makes some of my favorite beers, including Fat Tire ale. But wait, there's more.... The company is purely run by green power, using mostly wind energy, with 10% of its energy coming from a unique source: the production process. New Belgium actually captures the methane released by bacteria that clean the brewery's water. If only there were a way to create electricity from all the editorial brainstorming that goes down at the Bite's offices...

-Toshio...off to sober up...

Biter Comments...
I suspect you get suggestions for local Bite locales all the time, but I really do have the best one, I promise: Burlington, Vermont. We're super green (check out the Lake Champlain Basin Program), super progressive (we birthed Bernie Sanders, for crying out loud!), super local-lovers (you've never seen so many farmer's markets and rabid localvores), super-volunteers (most non-profits per capita of any state in the USA), super-entreprenurial-in-all-the-right-ways (can you say leaders in wind energy?), and super-sassy (um, *I* live here). Please check us out! PS. I love the Bite. I tell all my friends. And I'm not usually this much of a butt-kisser, but I'm sure your butts are chemical free and I really want you to consider Burlington as a town for a local Bite.
i think this is a great site with great tips, info and insight. i did recommend this to my friends because i am trying to be "green concious" by just doing some little things. i am looking forward to the tips that will be sent to me on a regular basis.
Yeah! We're starting to see new local bites! I can't wait until Philly starts...counting the days...
I live in the Phoenix area and I was wondering when Ideal Bite will be moving out our way? I know that folks are trying to get "green" but an extra push might be nice!
