BANG FOR THE BITE
apple

If 10,000 Biters buy one fewer box of staples, we'll avert the weight of 2,746 staplers in metal.

COCKTAIL FACT

Oopsy-daisy: After a masturbating machine-worker tore his scrotum in a drive-belt, he stapled it back together and went back to work before seeing a doctor three days later.

Hey neat freaks: Wanna keep it together?

The Bite

Your papers, that is. Try our fave new-fangled gizmo: the staple-less stapler. It keeps papers together like your regular stapler, minus the metal, so your organization-obsessed brain will have one less thing to fixate on.

The Benefits

  • Never running out of staples again.
  • Less stuff. Staples are tiny, but they require a lot of packaging and hassle. (Do you really wanna spend time pulling them out before tossing scraps in the recycle bin?)
  • Impressing gadget-geek friends. Staple-less staplers definitely have the how-does-it-do-that? factor.

Personally Speaking

After our resident tech geek, Brett, stapled eight pieces of scrap paper together with one of these, we had to stop him from disassembling it to figure out how it worked.

Staple-less staplers are great for a few reasons. They save resources. They don’t take up much space on your desk. They’re so simple you wonder why nobody thought of them before.

I have to say, though, I’d give mine up – without any tears - for a Jelly Stapler.

Thank you for all of the wonderful tips, including the staple-less stapler. Please don't encourage Biters to purchase goods such as the Magic Stapler off of Amazon. Amazon supports and encourages animal fighting by selling "The Gamecock" and "The Feathered Warrior". Thanks! more info: http://www.hsus.org/hsus_field/animal_fighting_the_final_round/recent_activities/amazoncom_summary.html
Thanks for the staple free stapler information. I've ordered two, since I'm a teacher, and look forward to trying them!! Staples have been my nemeses since I was young and stapled my thumb. ^%#$^&* that hurts!!
I simply don't keep paper for whatever reason. Now this isn't for everyone but I really work towards the paperless office. All my bills are electronic. If I get something important, then it is scanned and stored as a PDF on my computer or DVD. I only send electronic letters and so forth. Simply less resources needed overall from the Earth.
What shall I say? Ha, yes...OF COURSE I am getting one of these. You guys from Heather and Jen to Toshio, Brett, Jennifer and Sara do put the A for awesome in your site. No wonder I love to speak about you guys! Pascal of infogatherer.com
I think the stapleless stapler is pretty cool, but which is worse - using the occaisonal staple (I don't use very many) or buying a whole new stapler and having to ditch the one I already have? If I gave it away, whoever got it would still be using staples. Can it be recycled? In my city, probably not. I usually prefer paper clips. I've been using literally the same paper clips since I started my job six years ago. And they're easy to remove if you need those papers to come apart again!
These sounded great...until, like the last poster, I started thinking about what would become of my old dull staple-using stapler if I ran out and bought a snazzy new replacement. I guess to really be environmentally friendly, I need to wait until my current stapler no longer works (my guess it will keep going for 50 years or so) and then switch to a cool stapleless one...I wonder what they will have come up with by then!
I'm trying to convince my office manager we need a stapleless stapler, but she is skeptical and answering questions I can't answer ~ How does it work? and Will it last, or break quickly so we're forced to purchase another one? Can anyone help me out...? Thanks!
I have one of the staple-free staples (I got mine at thinkgeek.com), and it's pretty cool, but it only works for up to about 5 sheets. Anything beyond that and I still need to use a regular stapler. While I'm almost paperless at home, I'm a college professor, and the paperwork is still effectively unavoidable. However, the staple-free stapler has significantly reduced the number of staples I use.
Love the staple-free stapler! Will get one soon as my staples run out. At my work however, we go through MANY staples and the nature of the job is we have to UNstaple many pieces of mail. This is a great hassle to throw away in the trash. A co-worker got tired of it and started to put the staples in a little bowl. We all started (about 6 of us). Eventually they were all fill so as a joke we took them to a local place that buys scrap metal. We received 2 cents! We still do this and have a larger container to empty them in so not have to take as many trips to the scrap metal facility. Not only do we feel good about recycling, but we also are helping out a fellow worker. We label it "For Mary's Retirement"!
I'm with Pascal. Ok, so if you need a stapler, this sounds like a fun one. But the idea that it would save resources sounds a lot more like marketing than truth. I know it's hard to come up with new tips each day, and some are more meaty than others, but this one is kind of weak. Hmm. Seems like there might be room for more ideas here.
I ordered two of these for my daughter and one for me. I was upset when I received it because of the packaging. The box these two tiny staplers came in was HUGE and loaded to the top with packing peanuts that were styrofoam. I would think there would of been more eco-friendly packaging for this item. Just bugged me......
