BANG FOR THE BITE
apple

If 10,000 Biters recycle 1,000 square feet of carpet, we'll avert the weight of more than 33,000 Dr. Evils from landfills.

COCKTAIL FACT

Singaporean censors changed the name of the Austin Powers sequel The Spy Who Shagged Me to The Spy Who Shioked Me (translation: "the spy who treated me nicely").

Time to get rid of that holdover from the '70s?

The Bite

We're not talkin' international man of mystery; we're talking about the Austin Powers-era carpet under your feet. Were you thinking about sending it to the dump instead of reusing or recycling it? Oh, behave!

The Benefits

  • Mini(-Me) landfills. The amount of carpet sent to landfills each year could cover an area bigger than NYC.
  • More oil for synthetic velour...or something. Most carpet's made from petroleum, a nonrenewable resource.
  • Spy-worthy reuses. Your arch nemeses will never know you made your cat's scratching post from your old carpet.

Personally Speaking

When Jen's basement flooded, she was told she'd have to replace her carpet - but with enough research she found a company that professionally dried and cleaned it, then reinstalled - saving her a bundle of cash and saving the dump from a bundle of carpet.

Bunnies Before Benzene

There are hardwood floors throughout most of my flat - fertile ground for big, fat dust bunnies. You don't even want to see the ones chilling underneath my bed.

Still, I'd prefer a bunny any day to the chemicals (such as benzene) in most carpets. Not the nicest place for you or your baby to spend too much time crawling around.

-Toshio...off to sweep the floor...

Biter Comments...
I have tiling all over my apartment and it's the same way - balls of dust EVERYWHERE! Why is this!? I still don't want carpets, but am surprised at how often I have to sweep. Oh, and those are the CUTEST dust bunnies :-)
