Picking up some apples? Why not pick them from the source?

10.20.2005

The Bite:
If you’re looking for something to do with your kids or sweetheart this weekend, why not go apple picking?  You can get some fresh air and grab a bunch of locally grown apples at the same time.
The Benefits:
  • Help battle disease: apples are high in antioxidants, and picking up on that ladder can get your heart rate going… a little cardio never hurt.
  • Support your local farmers.
  • Teach your kids (or your couch-surfing honey) about the outdoors.
Personally Speaking:
Well, we like the whole idea, and we really suggest you do it (especially if you have kids), but we gotta be honest: we haven’t picked apples in years.  We get ours fresh-picked from our local CSAs and farmers’ markets.
Wanna Try:

Cocktail Fact

What's in a name? Apples are actually a member of the rose family.

Bang For The Bite

It’s always cheaper to get it from the source, and you get the added benefit of feeling connected to nature, which can be so bountiful when treated right.
